Chile

Chilean wines are envied all over the world for the lack of wine pests and diseases, the low cost, the long and dry warm summers and also for the natural water coming from the melted snow of the Andes.

The most important red wine variety is Cabernet Sauvignon, which is one third of all vines planted, the Carmenere plays an important role also with the production of Bordeaux style blend and Chile's fine wines now include Syrah, Malbec and Carignan. Some producers are putting a lot of efforts to cultivate Pinot Noir in the coolest parts and also genuine Sauvignon Blanc in the Casablanca and Leyda area.
